Project Life :: Week 33

After last week's disappointment, this week couldn't be any more different. I LOVE IT!

I used one of my DIY kits and it was such a fun experience. I loved everything in the kit so there was nothing to try to work in with, the colours just bring me such joy and, although the photos are definitely brighter and happier and that helps a lot, this is one of my most favourite spreads ever!

How to make your own kits from your stash

So. I totally took all your suggestions to create my own kits from my stash for the next time I don't have a new kit to work with. And I LOVE the results!

Each kit has a selection of 4x6 cards, 3x4 cards, alphas, embellishments and washi tape.

Pink? Of course it features heavily!

I also picked out quite a few of my favourites so they are likely to get used up quick smart rather than staying hidden in my stash.

And for something a bit different, a fully Black, White and Gold kit.

I'm sure I'll get 2-3 spreads from each kit so I can't wait to start using them!

Here is the process I went through to put these kits together...

Traveler's Notebook :: Another one done!

I've finished another random TN insert so here is a quick look through it before I file it away...

Traveler's Notebook Layout :: Relax

Die cut packs really do make it SO easy to pull together these TN pages. I simply picked out all the relevant ones, including one I used for my title, and glued them down around the page in my Pocket Page Notebook.

I used my Silhouette and this months cutfile from the Citrus Twist Kits Facebook Fan Page to create the frame for my photos, added a little journalling and I was pretty much done!

Traveler's Notebook Layout – Sweet Girl

I couldn't help myself, I had to make just one more page about Lily using the GOOD DOG set from Kellie Stamps! I created a cut file on my Silhouette but then couldn't decided which colour to use, nor could I decided which photo to use!

Eventually, I stopped with all the indecision, picked a photo and a background and backed it with a pile of scraps. Added some journalling, a title, some ephemera and then lots of little sentiment stamps all around!

Traveler's Notebook Layout :: Crafty Twins Mood Board Challenge #4

Are you ready for the next Crafty Twins Mood Board Challenge? Essie created the most gorgeous mood board for this month and as soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I was going to do!

Since I am still obsessed with the AC Digital store, I resized and printed all the gorgeous papers that I thought would match the mood board, including my FAVOURITE marble paper from Maggie Holmes, which ended up being printed on vellum!

Then I also used up most of the die cuts I had created for my tutorial video, a lucky coincidence that they matched perfectly!

Please head on over and check out Essie's gorgeous creation as well. If you do make something inspired by this mood board, PLEASE let me know, I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Project Life :: Week 32

I started this week SO disappointed, to the point I sort of wanted to just skip right over it. My photos were so dark and heavy and even converting them to B&W didn't seem to help.

I hoped circles would save me since I wasn't going to have much colour to work with. Doilies and puffy stickers and a bit of doodling helped but I still find the whole layout a bit dull. I pushed on but it just didn't seem to come easily for me. And although I don't hate what I've come up with, I'm happy to move on and hopefully have something a bit brighter next week.

Traveler's Notebook Layout :: This view

You know when you have an idea, but you just can't quite make it translate to paper? This was one of those times.

And you know how I'm usually not that picky, and will just keep working on a page until its ok or good enough. Yeah, this wasn't one of those pages. For the first time ever, I actually give up and gave in and started again! Its still not exactly like what I had pictured in my head but it's as close as I could get it!

Pocket Page Layout :: Melly Cat

I couldn't play favourites and after putting together a page for Lily, I had to put together a page for Miss Melly too! This time I used the CATS LIFE set from Kellie Stamps.

Another large photo was called for and although I wouldn't normally split a photo over a face (human or animal), this time it couldn't be avoided. Everything else remained almost the same, but a different style of page protector meant there was only room for two smaller photos and I needed to use some patterned paper for the title.

Project Life :: Week 31

My latest Citrus Twist Pocket Life kit finally turned up, after a detour to India it seems! So I had some lovely new goodies to play with.

Ironically, I had plenty of photos to play with this week, even if most of them did come from one day! A beautiful panorama down the bottom and I used a rather abstract floral wall photo as my title card! I had an extra photo printed but decided to swap it for a journal card with a quote that sums up my whole Project Life style! I never waste those photos, it will end up in my TN at some point.

Traveler's Notebook Layout :: What an exhibition

Today I'm using a sketch from Eileen Scrapmazing and joining in a Youtube hop celebrating her one year anniversary. You can check out the process videos, use the same sketch as we did and win something special! All the details are over on my channel today.

I flipped the sketch since I was working in my TN and created a photo grid of 6 photos. I stitched the banner swag from the sketch as a place for my title and added all sorts of bits and pieces from Elle's Studio (from The Stamp Spot) scattered around my page.

How to print and cut digital elements using Photoshop and a Silhouette

I've been just loving all the digital downloads from the AC Digitals store this week, so I thought I'd put together a quick tutorial and show you how I use Photoshop and my Silhouette to cut them all out quickly and easily!

Traveler's Notebook Layout :: Grab a cup

The THIS GIRL and COFFEE sets from Kellie Stamps were the perfect starting point for this page about, well of course, coffee!

Since I started working from home, taking actual breaks has slightly fallen off my priority list. But I've started realising just how important it is to stop, reset and take a breath every once in a while. And a coffee often helps too. So that was what I wanted to document with this page.

I had an idea about what I wanted it to look like, and although I struggled to make the reality match my imagination, I got there in the end.

Pocket Page Layout :: Ruff Life

It's release day over at Kellie Stamps and if you're a dog lover like myself, you might want to head over and grab yourself a GOOD DOG set before they sell out! Which I'm sure they will because I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who loves dogs this much! Right?

I used it to make this pocket page insert for my album. After I took that photo of Lily, I knew it was going to need to be BIG and the stamps just compliment it so well!

Project Life :: Week 30

My latest kit is stuck in transit somewhere (ack the postal system here is SO bad!) but instead of letting myself get another week behind, I grabbed all the past kits from the last 8 months or so, spread them out on my desk and picked out all my favourite bits! So much fun and SO much mess!

And, of course, I ended up with ANOTHER blue and yellow spread but I'm just going to embrace it and hope as the summer months speed towards us, my favourite pinks spreads will come back too!

Traveler's Notebook Layout :: Courage

I've very nearly finished this insert, my "Ladies You Should Listen To" insert. Filled with quotes from women I admire, quotes that make me think or switch a light on in my head.

This quote is something I've been pondering for the last wee while. Being brave isn't a default setting for me, although when you suffer from anxiety like I do, it actually IS a default setting. Every day I have to be brave and courageous and face my (somewhat irrational) fears. And when I do, life certainly does expand.

The GRANT STREET ALPHA from Kellie Stamps is the perfect size for these TN inserts and my SILVER LININGS digital kit came in handy for covering up the facing page too!

Project Life :: Week 29

So this week I had no kit to work with, and man, did I struggle! I guess it proves to me just how simple using a kit makes pulling together a cohesive spread. My concern now is how I am going to use up the HUGE box of random PL cards I have sitting there if I only ever use kits?! I'm going to need to come up with a better solution.

Luckily, washi tape and some simple stamping came to the rescue. I love the THIS GIRL set from Kellie Stamps but the set I used from Studio Calico was TERRIBLE quality (and TBH, has since gone in the bin).

And I had all the best intentions of going back to my favourite pink and teal combo, but you can see how well that turned out! I guess I'm still on my blue kick!

Traveler's Notebook Layout :: Finally Colour

Here's another spread in my Pocket Page Notebook using the Silver Linings digital kit. This time, I changed the colour of one of the papers so it better suited my photo and then printed it on some fancy metallic paper (but didn't wait long enough for it to dry!).
