Pocket Page Notebook :: Whole Heart

One thing I love to use my Pocket Page Notebooks for is using up photos that didn't quite make it into my Project Life album. This one just didn't quite work for my week but was still something I wanted to document. I added some smaller photos to go with it and then rummaged through my "new bits" drawer and picked out a 6x6 pad, alphas and some stickers to create a simple page.

What wasn't simple, however, was trying to stitch those alphas onto my pocket. I almost killed my sewing machine and broke three needles in the process! Not sure why, I stitch through these pockets all the time. I guess these alphas were tougher than they looked!

Project Life :: Week 13

I used the gorgeous SHOW AND TELL kit from Feed Your Craft and Brandi Kincaid this week, along with some very old ribbon and a hand-stitched shaker pocket (because I managed to break my sewing machine but thats a whole other story for another day!)

OLW :: April

I'm still mulling over the questions I've asked myself for this month's prompt, but I was ready to finish off my March pages and get a start on April's.

I made myself a positivity-type header page before sticking down my stamped out questions. And yes, the stamping did take FOREVER, but I quite enjoy it. It gave me time to think about each question a little and the repetitive nature of it is quite meditative.

Here is my process for finishing off my March pages and starting my April prompt...

Project Life :: Week 12

Do you have a supply you love but hardly ever use? For me, its thin metal dies. Maybe it seems like too much hassle to pull my Cuttlebug out every time I want to use them, but I know when I do, I love them so much. So today I decided to REALLY use those dies, and not much else in fact, to put together this week's page.

And although I maybe wouldn't use ONLY metal dies again, I am inspired to pull them out more often. Or certainly, come up with a solution to having my Cuttlebug set up and ready to go at a moments notice anyway.

Tips for fusing your Pocket Page Notebook

One of my favourite things about the Pocket Page Notebook, is the ability to fuse the pockets! You totally don't need to fuse the pockets, I also love stitching by hand or machine and I've even been know to use double sided tape to close them. But fusing, is super easy and so much fun once you know all the sneaky tips!

Here are my top tips for fusing your pockets:

  1. Make sure you're working on both sides of the pocket, once its sealed, it won't be accessible to make changes!
  2. Make sure your Fuse tool is good and hot. I usually let mine heat up for 10-15 minutes before starting.
  3. Slip a piece of HEAVY cardboard under the pocket before fusing.
  4. Try to have your pocket as flat as possible, This might mean shuffling pages, or holding the other side of the book up at a 90 degree angle.
  5. When you're fusing, press hard and roll quickly.
  6. Don't leave the Fuse tool in one place for very long or you will melt a hole straight through.
  7. Try fusing on both sides of the pocket to create a more secure join.

Here is the process video of how I put all these tips into action...

Project Life :: Week 11

I was under the impression that today was Monday, not Tuesday, and I hadn't managed to find time to do this week's Project Life spread. But instead of giving up, I just made it as easy as possible for myself with the worlds smallest mini kit and some printables from Brandi Kincaid.

Here is how I quickly put this week's layout together and what I print my digital printables on...

March Favourites

Here are my crafty faves, in no particular order, from March:

Pocket Page Notebook :: Yoga every day

This one was a super quick one! I used the new YOGA set from Kellie Stamps to create a page about my new yoga practice. I love when a page comes together this quickly!

Crafty Twins Mood Board Challenge :: March

Are you ready for the next Crafty Twins Mood Board Challenge? This mood board is full of pastel-y goodness!

I'm definitely more of a brights, rather than pastel fan, so I switched things up a little and used the same colour palette from the mood board, just slightly more saturated! I created a grid pattern to mimic the bricks in the mood board and then just went to town cutting and sticking!

Don't forget to head on over to Essie's channel and check out the gorgeous creation that she created from this mood board!

Five Favourite Things :: Week 10 Project Life

I decided it was time for another Five Favourite Things challenge! And since I was having a bit of a tidy up and had a whole pile of printables from different kits lying around my desk, I decided to build a tiny mini-kit with those for this week.

If you want to join me in this FFT challenge, then create a project using the following 5 things (and don't forget to show me what you create!):

Kellie Stamps :: #meditation

It's release day over at Kellie Stamps and I used both the clear and digital version of the YOGA set to create this page in my Pocket Page Notebook!

Creating cut files is a really easy way to use digital stamps in your Pocket Page Notebook. So today I'm showing you how I used my Silhouette to create one.

If you want to learn more about using digital stamps, check out my class, Digital Stamp Documenting!

Project life :: Week 9

This week, I actually really liked my photos (not the usual hodge-podge, which is a nice change!) so I wanted to keep things very simple.

I added all my journalling for the week onto one journal card and then used one or two simple embellishments on each photo.

Then, I tied the whole spread together by using the puffy star stickers from the Embellishment Kit, and sprinkled them across the page, using the same colours from my cards and photos.

Here is how I tied this week's layout together with a bunch of puffy stickers...

How to make a shaker pocket with pattern paper

I'm over on the Citrus Twist blog today sharing a tutorial for making this cute little shaker pocket from pattern paper. I hope you head over and check it out!

Project Life :: Week 8

I used the March Pocket Life kit from Citrus Twist for this week's spread and it just so happened to have the most PERFECT diecut for the most unflattering photo ever!

This week turned out decidedly more green than I probably would have preferred but considering we spent most of the week under the cover of clouds, it probably suits it perfectly.

Here is how I put together this week's layout...

Traveler's Notebook :: Click

What do you do when nothing really works the way you hoped it would on a page?

I'm not usually one to give up easily, so if you're anything like me, you just keep pushing and cross your fingers that it all comes together in the end.

This is one of those pages. So less of a tutorial, and more of a "don't do it this way" example! And luckily, its hard to go too wrong when you have some gorgeous kits to work with. The March kit from Citrus Twist are so lovely, they more than make up for any mistakes. I'm LOVING the Traveler's Notebook Candid Camera stamp this month too (which is what I used for this page).

OLW :: March

I had a few ideas for what I wanted to practice this month but in the end I went with something very simple and very important to me.

This month I am going to leave my house everyday. Now I know that might seem like the world's easiest goal, but given that I work from home and obviously live at home, and all my hobbies are based at home, I can easily go for days without leaving the safety of my house. Which isn't great for the state of my mental health. So this month I am going outside my own boundaries a bit more!

I created my own tracker and then added a few other bits and pieces to my album, including my new monthly goal sheets. This months goal is to actually finish one of the many half-finished books that are lying around!

Here is my process for my March prompt...
