Kellie Stamps :: 90

We were very lucky to be at my Nana's 90th birthday last month. Such a special day for our whole family, it definitely needed it's own page.

I used the TODAY WAS stamp set from Kellie Stamps to create some background patterns and some small embellishments. I also used a mix of handwriting and stamping for the journalling.

Project Life :: Week 9

This week was one of those crappy, roller-coaster weeks so I ended up with hardly any photos at all. I grabbed the few I did take, blew one up to 6x8 and got working.

I used the TODAY WAS and NUTS ABOUT FOOD sets from Kellie Stamps, even though there are no food photos. I think if you look hard enough, there are always stamps from themed sets you can apply to non-themed photos.

I also grabbed a freebie card from Kellie's blog that perfectly summed up the week.

Pancakes

One of the things I love about digital stamps is how versatile they are. I grabbed one of the digital stamps from the NUTS ABOUT FOOD set from Kellie Stamps and created a stitching pattern on my photo.

I'm not gonna lie, this stitching took a while and I don't know why I keep insisting on using the most annoying thread in the world to stitch with. Ok, I do. Because it's all gold and pretty. But still super hard to work with.

I also created a little hidden pocket to put my journalling on a tag, love that little detail. I matted the whole thing on a piece of vellum (super hard to see in photos) because I ended up getting my measurements wrong and only printed and 11 inch tall photo. Whoops. I thought about just making the layout 11x11 but then decided to just throw the whole thing on a background and I loved the look of vellum! Problem solved.

Traveler's Notebook :: Celebrate

The Pinkfresh diecut pieces in the March Pocket Life kit from Citrus Twist kits are so cute! I had to use up the few I had left so I scribbled a circle in my TN, added a photo and then glued down as many as I could! A few puffy stickers and some journalling and I had a pretty page all done!

Traveler's Notebook Process :: Popcorn

It's release day over at Kellie Stamps and I'm super excited to have collaborated with Kellie again on this set, NUTS ABOUT FOOD. Because, we certainly are around here! In fact, you'll see over the coming weeks that we're so nuts about food, I've started a whole new insert just for food related pages!

One of the things we ALL love is popcorn. Lily especially. So I made this really simple page in my TN about it using one of my brush script stamps.

Project Life :: Week 8

I started this week with a really heavy yellow and black colour-scheme, which I wasn't 100% in love with. But after using a lot of the Pinkfreash ephemera from the March Citrus Twist Kits Pocket Life kit, which tied in the colours of my cupcake, I'm loving how bright and happy it looks.

I still haven't found a replacement photo paper I like, when I stamped on this HP one for the first time, the coating on the paper (and my photo) came off on the stamp! Back to the drawing board.

Traveler's Notebook :: Look Up

I had this idea for a page, I wanted it to be light and bright and all about my love of the sky. I also decided I wanted a fold-out flap, a full page photos and lots of cloud like texture.

That's a big ask for a small page. And while I do love the lightness and the brightness and all the little photos, I wish I had used a lighter card-stock for the flap (which never really sits down) and I shouldn't have bothered with the fringing (which was mostly covered up anyway). Maybe at some point I'll redo it but for now, I'm leaving it alone and learning from my mistakes.

Project Life :: Week 7

The colours this week are so bold and graphic, I just love the papers from Pinkfresh in the March Citrus Twist Kits Pocket Life kit. I took care of the no alpha issue with some stamping and a bit of stitching.

I quite enjoyed being able to use this journal card completely differently to how it was intended. In this case my "best family" was actually the cause of some drama and crying but I was happy to use the card anyway – even if it is a bit sarcastically!

Traveler's Notebook :: Thumbs Down?

I am incredibly anxious about posting this page but it is something that has been on my mind for a while. My favourite social media platform has to be Instagram. I love it's positivity and supportive community. And while I love YouTube – for those very same reasons – I really struggle with the negative aspect of "thumbs down". I just can't work out what its purpose is apart from trying to make people feel bad. I've seen thumbs down on baby announcements, emotionally open and vulnerable posts, and almost every other type of video. And I don't understand the point.

I'm REALLY lucky that the vast majority of my feedback on YouTube is incredibly supportive, but I can't help feeling terrible when I see someone's video get a thumbs down or when I get a random thumbs down myself. I know I shouldn't but I do. So much time and effort goes into making videos, and apart from that, somedays (like today) it takes everything I have to push past my fear and anxiety and put a little piece of myself out there for judgement. And I can't be the only one who feels like that, right?

I don't expect everybody to love every one of my videos, even I have stopped watching videos from people I love because I didn't agree or just wasn't interested. But that's really as far as it needs to go. Just stop watching.

Making this page really did help get some of these thoughts out of my head and on to paper so I'm glad I made it. But it doesn't stop me feeling sick about posting this today. So let me ask a favour, if you don't agree with me – just stop watching.

Project Life :: Week 6

For whatever reason, the photos this week were VERY strongly themed in a orange/blue colour scheme and luckily the March Citrus Twist Kits Pocket Life kit fit in very nicely.

Everything was very simple, with the addition of a few die-cuts and stitching and because this month's kit didn't come with an alpha, I had to get creative with my title card and cut it with my Silhouette.

Traveler's Notebook Layout :: Bath Time

So that left over photo of Lily from Week 5, I totally had to use it in my notebook. Another page using the February Studio Calico Planner kit. So happy I finally worked out what I could use all those stickers and papers that never seem to make it into my planner.

I'm so sad that the alpha stamp is really just a bit big to use in here though. I got REALLY lucky that the one word did fit, since I didn't bother to measure at all.

Project Life :: Week 5

Don't get me wrong, I will forever be a fan of pink, teal, gold and polkadots, but are my tastes changing? (With age maybe, cough.)

You know teal is as close to green as I like to go but this week as I was flicking through the cards in the Studio Calico February Documenter kit, I was drawn to not only one, but two green cards! And from there, I just ran with it. I even chose one of those green cards over a photo of Lily!

I mean, there are pops of pink so maybe I haven't completely left my comfort zone but still.

Kellie Stamps :: Seriously

As well as TOP SHOP, the February Kellie Stamps release also includes the SEYMOUR alpha, which perfectly coordinates! So once again I spent quite a bit of time stamping out one of my favourite quotes from my husband when he finally discovered my washi tape addiction. What can I say? He doesn't get it!

Kellie Stamps :: Adventure

As well as clear stamps, the Kellie Stamps February release also sees the return of the GOOD TIMES set but this time in digital form! I used a stamp from the set to create a cut file for my title before backing it in patterned paper and adding my photos and embellishments.

There really is no end to the projects you can create with digital files!

Traveler's Notebook Layout :: Today

I've had a revelation of sorts. Nothing earth-shattering mind you, but still, its made me happier. Ever since Studio Calico started including paper in their planner kits, I haven't really known what to do with it. I don't make a lot of inserts for my planners and my dashboards are already done. Most months it tends to get thrown away, if I'm honest.

But this month, I realised it was the perfect size for Traveler's Notebooks and a lightbulb went off. And I immediately had to sit down and get crafty. These purples are so good, I had to use them first to document this photo + write a little note of encouragement to myself.

Kellie Stamps :: Flashlight

The Kellie Stamps February release is today and includes two of my all-time favourite alpha sets! I used the TOP SHOP alpha to stamp out some song lyrics as a background on this page. It took a good while but I'm so pleased with the end result. Also, black and white all over for the win!

Project Life :: Week 4

I'm still amazed how well the colours worked out in this week's spread, since I didn't stick to my normal 2-colour scheme. In fact, I was getting down to the left-overs in my February Citrus Twist Kits Pocket Life kit so it was all very bits and piece-y. But I think because all the colours are sort of muted, it ties them together and almost like a bit vintage.

I just love the florals in the ephemera pack too. There is no bad photo that a beautiful floral can't rescue!
