Dearlydee Mood Board Challenge :: May

Welcome to the first Dearlydee Mood Board Challenge! This mood board is bright and glorious and makes me smile!

I was inspired by the bright colours and bold text and all those circles in the mood board. And because today is my birthday, I decided there was no better subject matter than recording how I'm feeling right now.

But let me let you in on a little secret. I don't really like the way this page tuned out. It isn't what I imagined it would be, it isn't perfect. And that's the trick to this whole thing, there is no such thing as perfect! I wasn't going to post this page because I don't love it, but I did because I really want you to know that nobody loves EVERYTHING they do ALL the time. And you shouldn't let the fear of something you create not being good enough, stop you from playing and enjoying and documenting your stories!

Here is the process video of how this page came together...

Don't forget to check out the hashtag on Instagram to see some other special pages using this mood board and make sure you use the hashtag #dearlydeemoodboardchallenge if you use the mood board yourself, because I want to see what you make!

Project Life :: Week 18

I've got something a bit sneaky for you today, a little peek at two new stamp sets coming to the Kellie Stamps shop tomorrow. And you might want to set an alarm because these ones are going to go quickly!

I filmed this the night before we moved so I didn't have much on hand, a Pocket Life kit from Citrus Twist, the new stamp sets, basic supplies and some shipping tags. But I LOVE how this one turned out!

Finished Pocket Page Notebook Walk-through

As I was packing up my room for the big move, I discovered a finished Pocket Page Notebook, so I thought I'd show you some of the pages inside ...

Project Life :: Week 17

Procraftination is the name of the game this week. Well, that and finally using up some of my Story kits that haven't been touched yet!

I should have been packing, but instead I started crafting. Keeping it simple, as always, and enjoying playing with circles!

Pocket Page Notebook :: Scale it Down

I was very lucky to be asked to be a guest on Simone and Suzanna's Scale it Down series over on Youtube. I got to choose 5 things for us all to work with, so I chose:

  • ribbon
  • alpha stamps
  • a 6x6 paper pad
  • tiny word stickers
  • mixed media
Mixed media? I know! I thought I'd give myself a bit of a challenge and I really enjoyed it!

Pocket Page Notebook :: Yum

I knew I wanted to document the sushi cake I made for Shane's birthday, so I made sure I took a LOT of photos before we all devoured it! And the DELISH stamp set from Citrus Twist was going to be perfect for documenting it in my Pocket Page Notebook.

I'm sure there are fancier ways of describing this cake but the YUM stamp was exactly how we felt. I used a couple of different inks to stamp it all over my page (not exactly my best stamping effort, but hey, I'm not super picky at the moment!) and then added my tiny pictures. I back my main photo with a gorgeous foiled paper from the Pocket Life kit and added my journalling and called it done. I am ALL about simple these days!

Project Life :: Week 16

The last few weeks (months?!) have been pretty hard and stressful, so it was a nice change to document what was a pretty good week this week!

I used the May Pocket Life kit from Citrus Twist and got a bit fancy cutting out my title, adding some fussy-cut elements and stitching it all down! I also realigned the text on one 4x6 card so I could fit a photo on it as well.

April Favourites

Here are my crafty faves, in no particular order, from April:

And for a little more detail about why these are my favourites, here is this month's video...

Happy (inter)National Scrapbook Day!

I hope you've been having a great (inter)NATIONAL SCRAPBOOK DAY so far! I've loved all the scrappy challenges happening over on the CTK Facebook Fan Page.

I've just hosted a challenge over there and here is my take on it...

You know I love a mood board challenge! And the papers in the April Pocket Life kit couldn't have been more perfect for this one!

Have you visited the brand new CTK website?! It has a fresh look that is very user-friendly with super easy navigation! Be sure to pop by and check it out (especially that digital section)!

Don’t forget to write down my Blog Hop Bonus Word which is LITTLE! Remember to collect all the words from each of the DT blogs and the CTK website this weekend for a chance to win the $50 prize pack! And don’t forget to visit Jessy’s blog to see her take on this NSD Challenge – and to collect her Blog Hop Bonus Word!

Pocket Page Notebook :: Waffles

There's nothing I like better than a good cheat way to create something that looks like it took you hours! Why not use the hard design work that someone else has already done to create a super looking repeat pattern?

I used this set from Kellie Stamps, placed the stamps on my block almost exactly as they are laid out on the sheet and went stamp happy!

Project Life :: Week 15

In between packing and organising, my plan is still to keep these pages VERY simple at the moment (although I do miss a good stitching session). This is made much easier with my new May Pocket Life kit from CTK. Each photo got a die cut and a quick stamp, I added my journalling to one card and made the world's simplest title card. Done.

Pocket Page Notebook :: You & Me

Okay, I'm obsessed. I really wanted to find a way to create the look of white screen-printed overlays but using my own digital stamps. And with the help of some white vinyl and my Silhouette, I've done it!

You could easily reproduce the same idea by adding a digital stamp to your photo before printing if you don't have a Silhouette, but if you do, I highly suggest picking up some vinyl and giving this a go. SO MUCH FUN!

Project Life :: Week 14

With so much going on around here, instead of skipping this week and falling behind, I decided to keep it VERY simple instead. I used the April Pocket Life kit from Citrus Twist (have you checked out their new website? Digital products!).

Tool haul + Life update!

I grabbed a few different tools and storage options recently so I thought I'd show you what I got. Oh, and I'm also sharing some BIG life stuff too!

Pocket Page Notebook :: Whole Heart

One thing I love to use my Pocket Page Notebooks for is using up photos that didn't quite make it into my Project Life album. This one just didn't quite work for my week but was still something I wanted to document. I added some smaller photos to go with it and then rummaged through my "new bits" drawer and picked out a 6x6 pad, alphas and some stickers to create a simple page.

What wasn't simple, however, was trying to stitch those alphas onto my pocket. I almost killed my sewing machine and broke three needles in the process! Not sure why, I stitch through these pockets all the time. I guess these alphas were tougher than they looked!

Project Life :: Week 13

I used the gorgeous SHOW AND TELL kit from Feed Your Craft and Brandi Kincaid this week, along with some very old ribbon and a hand-stitched shaker pocket (because I managed to break my sewing machine but thats a whole other story for another day!)

OLW :: April

I'm still mulling over the questions I've asked myself for this month's prompt, but I was ready to finish off my March pages and get a start on April's.

I made myself a positivity-type header page before sticking down my stamped out questions. And yes, the stamping did take FOREVER, but I quite enjoy it. It gave me time to think about each question a little and the repetitive nature of it is quite meditative.

Here is my process for finishing off my March pages and starting my April prompt...

Project Life :: Week 12

Do you have a supply you love but hardly ever use? For me, its thin metal dies. Maybe it seems like too much hassle to pull my Cuttlebug out every time I want to use them, but I know when I do, I love them so much. So today I decided to REALLY use those dies, and not much else in fact, to put together this week's page.

And although I maybe wouldn't use ONLY metal dies again, I am inspired to pull them out more often. Or certainly, come up with a solution to having my Cuttlebug set up and ready to go at a moments notice anyway.

See how much fun I had putting together this week's page using only metal dies...

Tips for fusing your Pocket Page Notebook

One of my favourite things about the Pocket Page Notebook, is the ability to fuse the pockets! You totally don't need to fuse the pockets, I also love stitching by hand or machine and I've even been know to use double sided tape to close them. But fusing, is super easy and so much fun once you know all the sneaky tips!

Here are my top tips for fusing your pockets:

  1. Make sure you're working on both sides of the pocket, once its sealed, it won't be accessible to make changes!
  2. Make sure your Fuse tool is good and hot. I usually let mine heat up for 10-15 minutes before starting.
  3. Slip a piece of HEAVY cardboard under the pocket before fusing.
  4. Try to have your pocket as flat as possible, This might mean shuffling pages, or holding the other side of the book up at a 90 degree angle.
  5. When you're fusing, press hard and roll quickly.
  6. Don't leave the Fuse tool in one place for very long or you will melt a hole straight through.
  7. Try fusing on both sides of the pocket to create a more secure join.

Here is the process video of how I put all these tips into action...
